In a surprising statement while talking to the BBC, Oasis man Noel Gallagher has commented on how he believes there is a link between gaming and knife crime:
“People say it’s through violent video games and I guess that’s got something to do with it.”“If kids are sitting up all night smoking super skunk [cannabis] and they come so desensitised to crime because they’re playing these videogames, it’s really, really scary.”
There’s a lot more from him in the interview at the source, but this just boils our blood at how the media lay into something once the bandwagon is rolling. Kids staying indoors playing videogames is a bit opposite to gangster chavs roaming the streets because they have nothing better to do other than act hard and knife people.
Videogames contain violence. Movies contain violence. The news contains violence. The Internet contains violence. If you’re going to whinge at one, then whinge at them all.
